Since there has not been any way to get a more thorough look at these people, scientists have had to guess on their population just by the far away encounters they have had. In a study, they seem to have decided that their lowest population could be 40, with a median of 250, and a high of 500. In 2001, the Census of India recorded 39 people, but since it was from a distance, it could not have been for sure. On average, 20-40 people have been encountered regularly and going up to 60.
