The Who was founded in 1964, when Pete Townshend was just 19 years old. As a young man who grew up in a poor neighborhood in London, Townshend chose to play music with his friends instead of partaking in criminal activities like some of his other peers. This avoidance paid off when The Who started gaining some traction in the ’60s for their violent shows, cool attitudes, and clever songwriting. Since then, Townshend has released over a dozen albums, both with The Who and by himself, earning him $115 million throughout the course of his career.
