Aztec Sacrifices
A past of grisly human sacrifice and complex military infrastructure emerged when archaeologists discovered the ruins of a pyramid in the 2000-year-old city of Teotihuacan in Mexico. Although it had been known that the Aztecs held many bloody sacrificial festivals, numerous decapitated and mutilated bodies of both humans and animals showed the world just how horrific the rituals could be.
