While some were shocked that such a thing existed in the first place, others claimed they’d been keeping their beauty products stashed away in the fridge for years.
Keeping your cosmetic products chilled offers a number of advantages. For instance, while cold skincare feels great on a hot summer day, maintaining their temperature can help to preserve the product more effectively. It can also keep your lipsticks from melting during a heatwave.
Although it’s not always needed, Dr. Joshua Zeichner, the director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, said that “refrigerating products will help extend their shelf life.” He added that it’s not always necessary, but cold products could potentially help to calm redness, itching, and puffiness.
