Restaurant Delivers Free Pizzas By Kayak in Texas

In Texas, a local Pizza Hut is making sure that their local community would not go without food during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Despite the floodwaters in and around the area, the pizzeria and restaurant was able to deliver their food by the use of several kayaks. Even with a limited crew, they were still able to distribute pizzas to houses and families that needed food.

One of the people at the forefront of this operation was the Pizza Hut manager, Shayda Habib. She said that once they heard about the aftermath, they started to prepare as many pizzas as possible. Then they loaded the pizzas into the delivery pouches, and then placed the pizzas in the kayaks and delivered them to as many homes as possible. Habib said that they were fortunate to have the resources needed to deliver food to her local community.

“When I heard there were families in need, I knew we needed to act fast,” Habib said. “I called my husband and asked him to gather up kayaks and meet me at the restaurant.” Habib said that she made it her quest to be able to provide all the help she could to the community she loved and lived in. According to Habib, they were able to get 120 pizzas to residents affected by the storm and flood. They plan to keep making these generous deliveries until the restaurant runs out of ingredients.
