Pop-Up Kitten Lounge in Washington, D.C. Offers Guests the Opportunity to Take Home a New Best Friend

By 3 weeks ago

When Amber Smigiel took off work to grieve the anniversary of her cat’s death, the last thing she was expecting was to meet her next pet.

Smigiel, who works at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, took a few days off to visit the Crumbs & Whiskers’ pop-up kitten lounge in Georgetown. Just two hours later, Smigiel applied to take him home and extend her visit another hour. Every half-hour cost $10, which is half the regular price due to a soft opening.

Crumbs & Whiskers is looking to save kittens from high-risk shelters with strained resources as a result of the annual breeding season. The pop-up lounge will run through June. The project is run by entrepreneur Kanchan Singh, owner of the Crumbs & Whiskers cat cafe both in D.C. and Los Angeles.
