NBA commissioner Adam Silver unveiled a special project at the All-Star Technology Summitâsmart jerseys.
Silver used an app on his phone to alter the name and number on the back of a jersey that was displayed onstage while he explained the premise of a “smart jersey” and its possible applications. He flipped through a number of models: Kemba Walker, Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan. He then discussed the possibilities of a fully customizable fan experience in 2038.
The All-Star summit serves as a platform for conversation regarding the future of basketball and the continuously evolving role of technology. It is currently in its 20th year of production and attendees include hundreds of top league executives.
