Since 1966, Vans skatewear has celebrated individuality and self-expression. Now they're adding an Autism Awareness Collection to their repertoire.
The eight pairs of shoes in the new collection were designed to focus on soothing the senses through sound, touch, and appearance.
The footwear is made of slip-on styles and shoes that can be worn with just a single strap hook-and-loop closure. Even the color palette of the line was chosen for its soothing tones.
"To be more inclusive to common sensory sensitivities, Vans worked with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards to create designs utilizing Vans ComfyCush technology for all-day comfort and ease of wear for adults, kids, and toddlers," said the company in a press release.
In addition to the inclusive footwear line, Vans has also pledged to donate at least $100,000 of the proceeds to A.Skate Foundation, a nonprofit that teaches children with autism how to skateboard.
