Getting more Information
In 1993, historians working at the Monticello plantation conducted over 200 interviews in order to get more information and history on personal accounts of Black families at Thomas Jefferson’s plantation from their ancestors. Don’t forget, this history was not that long ago. There were most likely people there that had great-great grandparents working on his plantation. In another effort to bring the black history into better light, Monticello held a summit in 2016 with the help of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the University of Virginia. Several people who were of the Monticello lineage attended the summit.
