What Happened In France

When Sally was 14, she went on a trip to London and Paris with Jefferson and his youngest daughter, Mary. Jefferson was serving the U.S. envoy to France, and lived there with the girls for two years. During these two years would change her and her legacy forever. Sally’s brother, James (above) was also with them as the chef. Slavery was illegal in France, which meant that they could escape if they wanted to and be a refugee, but something happened with Sally that made them go back.
