When Samantha Cerio attended a gymnastics regional meet, she had no idea it would be her last.

Cerio is a top aerospace engineering student with a job lined up at Boeing as a structural design analysis rocket engineer, an all-conference gymnast, co-scholar athlete of the year in the Southeastern Conference for her sport, and president of the advisory council for athletes, all with a 3.48 GPA. She also is set to be married in June.

However, when Cerio landed a move at the regional meet, her knees did something they weren’t supposed to do. The video is graphic, but all you need to know is this: they went the wrong way. Both of them.

While Cerio’s recovery cannot be precisely predicted, her prognosis is great, and she intends to walk down the aisle on her wedding day.
