Couple’s Empty Nest Photo Shoot Goes Viral

In the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of couples that make reveal videos to tell their family and friends that they are expecting, or to reveal the gender of their baby. But this couple decided to do something different for their own take of the trending viral videos. They decided to have a photo shoot to mark their “Empty Nest” day, or the time when all of their kids have left home for college.

Vicky and Jeff Piper from Dayton, Ohio agreed to do the photo shoot after Jeff made the suggestion. They found an empty bird’s nest in their backyard as a prop to announce they dropped off their youngest child off at college and their house was officially an empty nest. Vicky posted the picture on social media, where it quickly went viral. The couple will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in September.

“20 years ago we didn’t have gender reveal parties, portraits in beautiful fields with baby shoes to announce a pregnancy,’ Vicky wrote in a Facebook post, “Nor did we have baby photos on a blanket with a circle around a number showing how old they were. We drove our babies to Sears or Olan Mills to get their photo. So in honor of our next chapter: here you go.”

“If you’re in your 40s or 50s, when you had your kids, you missed all these beautiful photo opportunities kids do now,’ Vicky said in an interview. “So there was definitely an element of, ‘Let’s join those whippersnappers.’”
