Doctors Were Shocked

Doctors were stumped on how Gianna even survived the pregnancy. It was an extremely dire condition that not many survive from, so the fact that Gianna was even with them was a miracle in itself. She was then diagnosed with juvenile xanthogranuloma, a blood disorder. The tumor wasn’t cancerous, but that doesn’t make it benign.

The Horrible Prognosis

“You don’t survive brain stem tumors,” Joe told Philly.com, “I asked a doctor if she’s ever seen miracles happen, and she said yes, she has, but not in this case. She said Gianna would not live to see her first birthday.” The family was devastated. They turned to doctors and their religion to give Gianna the best care and life that they could, but it was a nerve wracking experience.
