Po’ Folks was named after a 1961 hit single by country singer Bill Anderson. It was established by Malcom Hare in 1975. Although the chain expanded to about 102 restaurants across 17 states, the business closed in 1988 after filing for bankruptcy. Luckily, there are 8 remaining stores in both Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.
