Childs
Childs, first established in New York City circa 1889, was named after its founder, Samuel Childs. The company’s popularity skyrocketed in the 1920s and 1930s with 125 different locations, serving more than 50 million meals every year. Although it went bankrupt in the ’40s, they were able to continue operating before it was turned into the Hotel Corporation of America. In the 1960s, the chain was sold to a variety of companies.
