Even though Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine play a loving mother-daughter duo in Terms of Endearment, the two actors did not see eye-to-eye. MacLaine was not a fan of Winger's antics as a young actor and thought that she was extremely unprofessional. Things took a turn for the worst when both actors were nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars. MacLaine won and rubbed it in Winger's face.
