RIP Harambe
In 2016, a four-year-old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo, and when the child seemed to be in imminent danger, the gorilla, Harambe, was shot and killed. His death inspired some pretty ridiculous memes, and the Cincinnati Zoo had to ask the Internet to, basically, stop. The outrage at the killing of Harambe was still present, but it had also been turned kind of into a joke.
