Moe Tucker, Velvet Underground
Totally unconventional, Moe Tucker chose to use mallets instead of sticks, and stood instead of sat. She also avoided using cymbals unless completely necessary. She was a rhythm section of her own and chose to follow her own time signature. Somehow, she didn’t overpower Lou Reed even though she was such a force.
