Dustin Hoffman Was Supposed to Play His Character in “Dead Poets Society”
If Dead Poets Society had stuck with the original cast, it might have been a very different movie. Reportedly, Dustin Hoffman was lined up to direct and star in the 1989 drama as Williams’ character, Jack Keating. However, Hoffman had scheduling conflicts that weren’t able to be resolved. Matt Damon actually also lost out on a role in Dead Poets Society, but he and Robin would later work together in Good Will Hunting.
