The Richest Mega Pastors in America

Peter Popoff left Berlin at an early age with his family and moved to California, where he spent his early years and completed his studies at the University of California. He married and settled down in 1970. Soon after, he entered television ministry and became known for his aggressive and energetic messages, which effectively transformed him into the iconic faith healer that often yelled “break free of the devil” at his sick followers.

Claiming to have healed everything from anxiety to paralysis, many believed Popoff’s exploits. However, the truth would come out in the mid-1980s when he finally admitted that his supposed miracles were all fake. He immediately fell out of the public’s favor and went into hiding. Surprisingly, he made a successful comeback nearly a decade later.

Now 70, Popoff is believed to be worth $10 million and can often be seen driving his Porsche around California.

Jesse Jackson

Jesse Jackson is best known for his time as a civil rights activist and politician. He’d attempted twice to run as president of the United States in 1984 and 1988. He also served as a United States Senator in Washington, D.C. for a full term from 1991 to 1997, after which he was eventually given his own show on CNN called Both Sides of Jesse Jackson.

Jackson was awarded his Master of Divinity in 2000, although he did become an ordained Baptist minister years earlier in 1968.

Unlike many others on this list, Jackson’s $10 million net worth is credited to his incredible popularity and influence, and not due to his religious affiliation.
