The next in the litany of treasure hunting hopefuls to make an attempt on Oak Island was named Erwin Hamilton. He arrived on the island in 1938 and started drilling in 1939. Hamilton found some suspicious rocks and gravel pieces 190 feet deep in the Money Pit, which he believed were placed there deliberately.
