The Cave of Altamira
Upon the discovery of the paintings in the Altamara by Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola, the scientific community became heated. Many did not believe such detailed paintings were possible by pre-historic man, but dating methods lead to proof that these were paintings from the Paleolithic period which completely changed our views of how advanced the people of the time were.
