The Desert Kites

A series of low stone walls in the Negev desert of Israel had confused archaeologists and scientists for years. It was eventually determined that the walls were used by hunters to get large animals to run into pens or off cliffs, where they could be slaughtered easily in mass. The appearance of the walls, some which reach up to 40 miles in length, from the air spurred Israelis to nickname them the “kites”.
