#22. Joseph Colombo
Taken in June 28, 1971, the photo shows the body of mob boss Joseph Colombo as it’s placed in a police vehicle just minutes after being shot by a non-gangster during a rally of the Italian American Coalition at Columbus Circle. Colombo, while alive, remained in a coma for years. Although Rival Joey Gallo was suspected of arranging the hit, he was never charged.
