The Dumbest Purchases Made By Athletes

Gilbert Arenas

When a player effectively ends his career by bringing loaded firms into his team’s locker room over $1,000 in a gambling incident, you know he’s not exactly the brightest crayon in the box.

So, it shouldn’t really come off as a surprise for Gilbert Arenas, a player whose career earnings are well over $100 million, would spend a lot of money buying stupid things. Case in point, he once spent well over $1 million to build one of the largest residential pools in the United States.

Made entirely out of imported stones, the pool had a fully functional waterfall, an underwater complex compelte with a bar, TV and 3 giant fish tanks, all three of which were filled with expensive fish and sharks (yes, you read that right) that only added to the absurd cost.

The pool – along with the house – was sold for $2.5 million back in 2014.
