Sinatra vs. Nature
Although Sinatra was beloved among the American public for his talents, things went rapidly downhill after he divorced his wife, Nancy, for renowned femme fatale Ava Gardner, with whom he had been having an affair. Sinatra’s actions tarnished his reputation, criticizing unfaithfulness and subsequent decision to leave Nancy. Gardner and Sinatra also had a famously turbulent marriage, but Gardner helped save her husband’s career by landing him the part in From Here to Eternity. They even remained friends after their marriage came to an end.
