Judy Garland Suffered at the Hands of Hollywood Producers
Garland, who starred as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, was only fifteen years old, but the studio was already encouraging her to lose as much weight as possible. Garland soon became addicted to diet pills and suffered enormously from the producers’ bullying. Allegedly, the crew who worked on the set of Oz had never seen anyone exhibit such cruelty toward a minor—but nobody stepped in to help.
