Taylor Swift leaves her mark and takes a stand in the political sphere once again, standing up against bigotry and discrimination within the state of Tennessee.
On Monday, Swift donated $113,000 to the Tennessee Equality Project, an LGBTQ advocacy group, along with a handwritten note to its executive director, Chris Sanders.

Swift praised the group for its work in bringing together 150 religious leaders in the state to stand against a series of bills in the General Assembly that TEP says target the LGBTQ community of Tennessee.
“Dear Chris, I’m writing you to say that I’m so inspired by the work you do, specifically in organizing the recent petition of Tennessee faith leaders standing up against the ‘Slate of Hate’ in our state legislature,” Swift wrote.

Among the bills are one permitting adoption agencies to discriminate against same-sex couples and others based on religious objections, along with a “bathroom bill” that adds bathrooms and locker rooms to a list of “public places” in which someone can be charged with indecent exposure, ultimately leading to the discrimination of transgender individuals.
This isn’t the first time Swift has taken a stand for her beliefs, either. Back in September, she broke her political silence to endorse Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, Phil Bredsen, stating that his opponent did not share her “Tennessee values.”
