Shannon Watts Wrote Her Husband Love Letters Before He Killed Her in 2018

In 2018, Chris Watts killed his pregnant wife and two daughters, and a new Netflix documentary explores what happened in the weeks leading up to the murders. Titled American Murder: The Family Next Door, the documentary details Shannan Watts fighting for her tumultuous marriage. Airing on September 30th, Netflix premiered an exclusive clip early, which you can watch below.

″I miss and love you so much,″ Shanann texted to Chris. ″I am still in shock that we are having a little boy! I am so excited and happy!″ The couple had just found out she was pregnant, but Chris would ultimately kill her when she was around 15 weeks along. She wore a shirt that said "Oops... We Did It Again" to announce her pregnancy in a video for Chris. The video shows Chris halting mid-step when he sees her, breaking into a smile, and reading the shirt, "We did it again!" before approaching her. All seemed well...

Apparently, Chris had been having an affair and told his mistress that Shannan's baby wasn't his, and that she was cheating as well. He strangled Shannan in their home and then drove his daughters to his job site at an oil field where he killed them. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and spends 23 hours a day in his cell. He is "in a hell of his own making." The documentary will explore multiple angles of the case, with promising ratings.
