Although many restaurants are keeping their secret recipes... well, secret, Shake Shack has graciously offered up the recipe for their delicious, creamy cheese sauce. The chain posted a video tutorial to Twitter and Facebook showing a step-by-step tutorial of how to create the sauce at home.
First, grease a pot with canola oil, then add onions, jalapeno, peppercorns, and salt. Once the onions are translucent, add in white wine vinegar and white wine. When it reduces, add in 2 cups of heavy cream, turn off the heat, and let those ingredients steep for half an hour.

Strain the cream to separate the solids and add it back to the pot. Bring the cream to a light boil and whisk in both American cheese and cheddar cheese. Then, voila! Ooey-gooey cheesy goodness for your fries, burgers, and more.
You can use this sauce to smother whatever you'd like, including any fears about the current state of affairs. When in doubt, just add cheese.
