Photographer Befriends Squirrels to Capture Wholesome Photos

Geert Weggen, a Swedish wildlife photographer, has spent years befriending the squirrels living near his home in the mountains.

Over a period of 8 years, he has used food and treats to gain the trust and develop a bond with the local squirrels to capture adorably sweet photos of the little creatures doing everything from sword fighting to playing chess.

He built a studio outside of his kitchen balcony with wood, plants, and trees, to capture these sweet little moments. To entice the squirrels, Weggen used peanut butter to get them to interact with his tiny props.

Since starting this project six years ago, his images have been featured in newspapers, books, calendars, magazines, and television.
