Pets Can Help Owners Stick to Their New Years Resolutions

The new year has just begun, and with it comes a ton of New Year's resolutions. After a wild and crazy 2020, many people are hoping to get a fresh start in 2021. Luckily for those who adopted during the 2020 pet boom, cats and dogs make excellent resolution buddies! The Best Friends Animal Society even proposed some tips and tricks for getting your new pet involved in your goals for the new year. Too cute!

One great way to ease into the new year with your pet is to get up and get active! Dogs are frequently in need of a long walk, which can help their owners remember to get moving too. Pets (and exercise) can also help reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, strengthen immune systems, and more. Start 2021 with a fitness plan and a reduction in your stressful day to day. Of course, pets can inspire us in pretty unusual ways as well.

This year, you and your pet can quit junk food for good. You can share certain healthy snacks with your dog, like sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. Puppies also love watermelon, blackberries, cranberries, blueberries, bananas, apple slices, and baby carrots. Cats love a bite of salmon, mackerel, plain boiled chicken, cheese, or egg.

Start your year right with healthy habits for you and your furry friends!
