Zone Rogue
The Zone Rogue, which translates into English as “The Red Zone,” is a chain of off-limits areas throughout the northeastern part of France. The government sectioned off these areas after WWI and never re-opened many of them. The areas were judged to be too damaged by the war to be suitable for human use. Instead of trying to restore the land, the French government decided to simply cordon it off and allow nature to reclaim it.
