Disappearance of the Sanxingdui

In 1929, a man repairing a sewage ditch in China’s Sichuan province found a bunch of jade and stone artifacts. Once he made this discovery, he drove it into the hands of collectors. In 1986, archaeologists found two more pits of Bronze Age treasures, including jade, elephant tusks, and bronze sculptures. No one is too sure of how made these sculptures, but some thing that the Sanxingdui civilization created these masterpieces. The culture collapsed between 2,000 and 3,000 years ago. They buried many artifacts and treasures before leaving the city in order to keep them secure. In 2014, researchers proposed that an earthquake 3,000 years ago may have rerouted the city’s river, making them leave.
