Scavengers Vs Predators

This photo was originally published in “Learning to Let the Wild Be Wild in Yellowstone,” in May 2o16.

Various parts of the Yellowstone region are much wilder today than they’ve been in the past hundred years or so. Case in point, Grizzlies have been spreading out in recent years. This one, found in Grand Teton National Park, is trying his best to fend off ravens away from the carcass of what probably is his latest victim.

Workers from the park were eventually forced to move the carcass away from the road to keep the scavengers and tourists apart.
