Locked Up
On the bottom of a metal lock, you might have noticed a tiny hole next to the keyhole. If you thought this was a safety precaution for locksmiths, you’d be wrong. Actually, the hole is a passage for allowing rainwater to drain. If the lock didn’t have a draining mechanism, the water could freeze, expanding inside the lock and making it unusable.
