The coffee giant has released plans to create it’s very own, and the very first, signing store for the deaf community. This way, it’ll be easier for deaf and mute folks to be able to go to the store and get their coffee without any problems! They will also be hiring people who are deaf and hard of hearing.

The store, located in Washington, DC, will be staffed by American Sign Language-fluent employees. This is a great step to making people with disabilities feel more comfortable in an otherwise uncomfortable situation!
Starbucks is hoping that this will jumpstart a new revolution of teaching ASL to more employees for when they encounter a deaf or mute person. If anything, this is definitely a step in the right direction in the inclusion of the deaf and mute community!
The store will be employing 20-25 folks within the community to work. Keep an eye out, it’ll be available for business in October!
