JK Rowling Donates $18 Million to MS Research to Honor Her Late Mother

World-renowned author, JK Rowling, is currently making headlines for something other than her creative work.

The Scottish philanthropist donated a whopping $18.8 million to the University of Edinburgh to continue building upon the success of their Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic.

Back in 2010, she made another large donation to build the clinic, which was named after her late mother who died from MS at 45.

“I am delighted to now support the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic into a new phase of discovery and achievement, as it realizes its ambition to create a legacy of better outcomes for generations of people with MS and non-MS neurodegenerative diseases,” said Rowling.

Her donation will finance the construction of new facilities for the clinic and also help to fund research on neurodegenerative treatments and cures.
