Biker Gang Offers Protection and Emotional Support to Kids Escaping Child Abuse

Hundreds of children who have suffered from parental abuse have received emotional support and protection from biker gangs thanks to an organization called Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA).

Bikers gift children with their very own BACA vest and answer to more kid-friendly nicknames.

The bikers come out to help if children have bad dreams, or if they're afraid that their abuser will find them again. The bikers stand watch and are there to support them when they are scared. The bikers even escort children to their court hearings if they are forced to give a statement in their case.

BACA exists in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the US, and has offered its services to children for over 20 years.

To participate, bikers undergo background checks and important training to handle the sensitive nature of the volunteer work.

The grandfather of a BACA-protected boy said, "We’d do anything to keep him safe, but he doesn’t know that. [The Bikers] make him feel safe, and they make him feel like we are safe."
