After surprise announcing the couple's big news in a music video last month, Perry, 35, and Bloom, 43, are looking forward to focusing on this uplifting news in light of the COVID-19 crisis.
“They love that they have this amazing, positive thing to focus on right now. It’s such a happy distraction for them," a source close to the couple said.
The American Idol judge feels good and has been self-isolating in order to avoid sickness. She hopes the Coronavirus pandemic comes to a halt before her due date later this year.
“Along with so many other people, they stay home. They both try to exercise and eat well so they can stay healthy,” the source says. “Katy really hopes everything has calmed down with the virus by the time the baby will be born this summer.”
While this is Perry's first child, Orlando Bloom shares a 9-year-old son with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
