"Why is she carrying that baby like that looks like she's fixing to drop her!" a fan commented on Duggar's Instagram post earlier this week, which sparked some concerns about the couples' parenting skills. The 22-year-old Counting On star, her husband Austin, two-year-old son Gideon, and newborn daughter Evelyn Mae, attended church over the weekend and Duggar shared a cute photo on her page to document it. However, the photo raised some flags for other Internet parents who took a closer look at how the baby was "precariously" held in Duggar's arm.
While most of the comments regarding both photos were fairly positive - including one sweet note from sister Jana Duggar who wrote, "You look amazing Joy!" - one follower called out the way the young mother of two was holding her baby. "Why is she carrying that baby like that looks like she fixing to drop her!" Joy-Anna replied with a thank you for the user's concern but clarified that the baby was in no harm. "Haha! Thank you for your concern! I was holding Evy and then Gideon was trying to hold my hand! I wasn't about to drop her tho!" she wrote back with a smiley face tacked onto the end.
The couple welcomed daughter Evelyn Mae on August 21, 2020, after having miscarried last year. "She has the best personality, is easy going, and loves to be held!" Joy-Anna wrote on an Instagram photo confirming her daughter's birth. "She has her nights and days mixed up, but honestly, I love it! Getting to spend that quiet, quality time with her through the night has been SO special! We are grateful for all the love and prayers that have come our way during this pregnancy."
