The Internet Turned The Chicago River into a Green Screen

Every year, the Chicago River gets dyed a festive emerald green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This year, however, the potential for meme-ification did not go unnoticed.

The city had no idea that they had essentially created a giant green screen for Twitter to do with as it pleased.

The river soon became an Internet sensation as people took to the web to showcase their latest meme endeavors.

Perhaps every holiday should embody this kind of lightheartedness—because it’s sure obvious that everyone is enjoying themselves.

Next year, the shenanigans can only get crazier.
