An Alternative Legacy
One of these slaves, who has been known to historians, was named Sally Hemings. Her story is extremely interesting, and her name is shrouded in mystery as her relationship with Jefferson has been questioned multiple times. That is, until the mystery that was found within the Monticello Plantation was unearthed 200 years after her death. It helped historians bring light into her life at Monticello that has had people questioning it for years.
