Great Dane from Arizona Gives Birth to a Litter of 19 Pups

A 4-year-old Great Dane from Arizona recently gave birth to a litter of 19 puppies!

The Kingman Animal Hospital in Kingman, Arizona, assisted the delivery of the pups via cesarean section and all 19 puppies are healthy. Seventeen have been able to go home while two are still being cared for at the animal hospital.

It took eleven staff members at KAH to deliver the pups, and when they announced the news on Facebook the post received over 1,000 comments and over 5,000 shares.

Most of the puppies have already been adopted, and the dog’s owner, Rebeccas, is blown away at the attention.

“My pups are famous,” she said. “I have people flying from Pennsylvania to come to get their puppy … as well as driving from Illinois, Nevada (and) California.”

But before these new little pups can go to their forever homes, Rebecca and her family are taking care of the puppies around the clock. Every three hours one of the family members feeds the puppies by hand and then returns them to their mother.

While the average Great Dane litter is 8-10 puppies, Rebecca noted that it was very rare for all puppies in such a large litter to survive.
