Carl explained that he'd turned the crib into a bench for their home. He was sad to see them sell it, but he understood the pain of having to look at it without having a baby to put in it. Instead, he hoped they'd see the bench as a positive reminder of the journey they'd gone through and the promise of what their future might hold.
