The Gallo family were a part of Mexico’s more affluent community. Their daughter, Paola, was a 25-year-old student pursuing her Master’s degree in psychoanalysis and spent her free time volunteering at orphanages and hanging out with her many friends. She and her family had high hopes for her future as she was a motivated young woman. Everything changed when she and her friends visited the Gallo vacation home.
Gallo and her friends were visiting her parents’ weekend home in Tepoztlan in July of the year 2000. Many affluent families venture there for weekend getaways. The graduate students were looking forward to a relaxing weekend and a break from schooling and stress.
