— Grumpy Cat (@RealGrumpyCat) May 17, 2019Her 2.4 million followers were saddened to learn Friday morning that the beloved cat had passed away at 7 years old. Her owners shared that she had passed from complications from a urinary tract infection.
Grumpy Cat, whose name was really Tardar Sauce, suffered from a form of dwarfism which caused her distinctive scowl. She first made her mark back in 2012 after a photo of her silly frown went viral and was turned into countless memes.
After that, Grumpy Cat was a celebrity. She appeared on American Idol, The Bachelorette, and even WWE’s Monday Night Raw. She won Meme of the Year at the 2013 Webby Awards and even starred in her very own Lifetime movie, “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.” As if that wasn’t enough, she also appeared on Broadway with a one-night appearance in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, Cats.

Hope heaven is terrible, Grumpy.
