NBA star Anthony Davis had publicly requested that he be traded from the Pelicans. He and his agent, Rich Paul, requested this publicly, which is a direct violation of NBA rules.
Therefore, Davis is now facing a $50k fine for his actions. It’s apparent that he believes this is important enough to go public, so he is ready to receive the backlash.
NBA fines Anthony Davis $50,000 for his agent Rich Paul publicly asking for a trade. This is a well-known rule; obviously Paul & Davis expected this. Clearly felt informing the team (and AD's teammates) first, then being honest publicly was still the right way to do all this.

Even though he makes more than that in a single game, that’s still a huge statement from the NBA. The NBA released an announcement about the matter as well.

All in all, it just goes to show how serious Davis is about getting traded. He is no longer interested in a contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.
