A New York City Rescue is Fostering a 41-Pound Cat

Barsik the cat, is unlike any other feline.

Weighing in at a monstrous 41 pounds, Barsik is basically a world wonder.

Luckily, he’s now getting a second chance at a healthier life.

On April 6, the NYCACC posted about Barsik on Twitter letting followers know that he had just been surrendered by his owner.

He was too large for NYCACC’s standard cat housing, so he was kept inside the office of an employee.

Barsik was since transferred to a foster home through Anjellicle Cats Rescue, an NYC-based rescue service. Here, he will be supervised by a vet in order to help him shed a few pounds and maintain a healthier diet.

Although Barsik’s current weight may potentially qualify him for a world record, Guinness actually stopped promoting the category of “heaviest cat” more than two decades ago to stop people from over-feeding their pets.

Let’s hope Barsik gets healthy and finds the new home of his little furry dreams.
