It's apparently very easy being green. Plenty, an agriculture tech start-up based in California, has implemented a two-acre indoor vertical farm that produces the same amount of greenery that would be equally productive on 720 acres of flat farms. Even better? The process takes about 95% less water, making this vertical farmscape both eco-friendly and a space saver for big cities. Saving water is also an urgent need in dry states on the West coast, where Plenty will begin providing goods to 430 Albertsons grocery stores.
The process uses tools like robotics, engineering, and artificial intelligence to guarantee that every green space is perfect. The vertical farm is ideal for climate change activists and those living in congested areas. The plants are all grown rich with natural nutrients and are entirely GMO-free. As the website boasts of the process, their product “frees agriculture from the constraints of weather, seasons, time, distance, pests, natural disasters, and climate."
Keeping with their eco-friendly theme, the packaging for the company is also 100% recycled, able to be recycled again, and keeps food fresh longer. The freshness of fruits and veggies has always been the reason for high prices, but with a new way of growing them, the cost of both could come way down. The future is looking brighter, and the walls are certainly looking a little greener on the other side...
